Job Overview
The Parent Educator Campus Based Title I, under immediate supervision of the campus Principal, is responsible for providing meaningful engagement initiatives and coordinating a variety of programs and events at their designated home campus to help propel students for academic success and achievement. The incumbent will assess and respond to the diverse needs of families in efforts to cultivate a school culture that effectively addresses campus and District family engagement goals.

Position Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Family Engagement

  • Facilitate, prepare, and implement district and campus-based parent and family engagement (PFE) programs and classes.
  • Develop and foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders including campus staff, community organizations, and local businesses, to ensure successful implementation of PFE activities.
  • Support school staff in the development and execution of the Campus Parent Involvement Policy and Campus Compact through the facilitation of mandatory Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings.
  • Implement strategies to develop an understanding of the diverse needs of campus families and provide relevant activities or resources that respond to those needs.
  • Provide relevant and specific input to support and increase parent and family engagement.
  • Organize and produce Parent and Family Engagement (PFE) materials, including flyers, calendars, agendas, newsletters, sign-in sheets, website content, and other communications (newsletters, electronic media, etc.)
  • Support efforts to keep parents informed about school functions, initiatives, and programs through various communication channels.
  • Survey parents to identify their needs and evaluate the effectiveness of PFE programs.
  • Engage families as partners in their children’s education by facilitating meaningful participation opportunities.
Campus Coordination
  • Collaborate with campus personnel (e.g., front office staff, principal, etc.) to stay informed of campus functions/events and disseminate relevant information to parents and families to support a welcoming environment.
  • Maintain comprehensive Title I documentation for PFE activities to ensure compliance with the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), Section 1116.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and stakeholders, both orally and in writing, to foster positive relationships
Title I Compliance
  • Ensure adherence to state and federal Title I rules, regulations, and compliance policies.
  • Provide presentations and orientations to parents on Title I programs and related mandates.
  • Attend mandatory meetings and training sessions.
  • Monitor and document compliance efforts to demonstrate adherence to ESSA, Section 1116 requirements.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned as related to the PFE requirements as noted in ESSA, Section 1116.

      • High School diploma or GED
      • Minimum of 6 months Experience with community outreach in an educational setting preferred
      • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both orally and in writing
      • Proficiency in Microsoft applications and general office skills
      • Ability to organize, prioritize, meet deadlines, and coordinate multiple programs
      • Ability to work independently, within guidelines, and in a team setting
      • Ability to perform a variety of tasks in fast-paced environment
      • Ability to work flexible hours, including some nights as needed
      Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

      The position requires occasional walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting/carrying work related items weighing less than 40 pounds, such as books, papers and presentation materials. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Attendance at conferences and professional development is required. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.

      Additional Information
      • This position must spend 90-95% of the day fulfilling the responsibilities defined in this job description or other duties related to parent and family engagement. The primary efforts of the parent educator is to focus on family engagement activities, with 90% of the workday dedicated exclusively to direct PFE efforts. No more than 10% of the workday may be spent on duties unrelated to parent family engagement, such as attending meetings, assisting with recess/cafeteria duties, or other campus support roles.
      • This position is grant funded through Title I funds and is assigned 100% to a Title I campus. This position may be discontinued if funds are no longer available.
