The Auxiliary Crew Driver will properly operate district vehicles in the pick-up, delivery, arrangement and assembly of furniture and equipment throughout District.
Position Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Technical
- Load, unload and transport furniture and various types of equipment within and outside of the District
- Assemble, breakdown and repair furniture and equipment using various work tools such as a drill, screwdriver, etc.
- Arrange and set-up for various types of events such as community meetings, graduations, testing and campus programs
- Operate a truck with a dump bed and lift gate
- Utilize forklifts and special dollies to load/unload and transport furniture and equipment
- Pick up, deliver and perform laundry services throughout the District
- Pressure wash school buildings and assist with removal of graffiti
- Assist with custodial staff emergencies as needed
- Coordinate with warehouse staff to arrange delivery and pick-up
- Review, coordinate and handle work orders maintaining necessary forms to account for materials transported
- Correspond with Auxiliary Crew Leads developing daily work schedules
- Determine equipment and supply needs and report them to campus lead, in writing
- Attention to overall working conditions of vehicle, schedule maintenance; consistently checking fuel, oil and water levels; and vehicle equipment for safe and proper operation
- Report any problems to proper authority and coordinate delivery any schedule maintenance needed

Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.

- High School Diploma or GED Preferred
- Valid Texas Drivers License Commercial B Preferred
- Proven skills to perform heavy manual tasks associated with handling materials, supplies, equipment and furniture with basic vehicle maintenance required
- Good knowledge of traffic laws and regulations relating to medium and heavy duty truck operations required
- Some working experience in building custodial work preferred
- Some knowledge of building cleaning methods, practices, materials, supplies and equipment as well as basic use of hand tools required
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and to communicate clearly and concisely required
- Ability to use cleaning materials and equipment economically, efficiently and safely required
- Ability to operate a truck and related equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with police, procedures, guidelines and traffic laws required
- Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships with general public, supervisors, campuses and district personnel required

Additional Information
- Pushing and pulling items weighing up to 70 pounds, reaching in front of body and stretching overhead. Employee is exposed to potential chemical hazards and toxic substances when using cleaning liquids, solvents and solutions, to potential biological hazards when cleaning restrooms, and to potential physical hazards when operating custodian equipment. Work also exposes employee to dust, fumes and occasionally to adverse weather conditions.
- Work requires the frequent use of safety clothing and equipment and compliance with safety procedures. Most positions require work during evening/night shifts. Must be able to handle stressful situations as necessary. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
